🇺🇸

Made in the USA

Proudly designed and manufactured in the United States.

Born from a Real Problem on the Water

It started on a sailing charter in the British Virgin Islands. The boats were beautiful, the water was crystal clear, but the marine toilets? Offensive. The head odor was something every boater knows and nobody wants to talk about.

Existing solutions — sprays, deodorizers, and chemicals — only masked the problem. The real culprit? Two issues working together: seawater organisms decomposing in the plumbing, and calcium scale trapping odors deep in the lines.

We needed a product that would treat the entire system with every flush — without complicated installation. Nothing on the market did both. So we created it.

The Commoderizer was engineered to solve both odor and calcium scale simultaneously, and it screws right onto your existing filter. No special tools, no plumber required.

How the Commoderizer Works

A simple, elegant system that treats your entire marine plumbing with every flush.

1

The Problem

Most yachts and pleasure boats use seawater for their toilet systems. Seawater contains living organisms that die in the plumbing and create odor. Urine and saltwater combine to form calcium scale, which traps odors and creates expensive maintenance.

2

Install in Seconds

The Commoderizer screws directly onto your existing Jabsco in-line strainer filter port. It has a built-in strainer and requires no modifications to your boat.

3

Insert the Tablet

Place one of our specially formulated slow-release deodorant tablets into the unit's cap. That's all the setup you need.

4

Flush & Treat

Each flush draws seawater through the unit, screens debris, activates the tablet, and distributes treatment throughout the toilet, plumbing lines, and holding tank — controlling odors and reducing calcium buildup automatically.

Compatibility: Requires a standard Jabsco PumpGard In-line Strainer — Model 36200-0000 or 46400-0000.

Why Our Tablets Are Different

The tablet is the engine of the Commoderizer. After extensive testing of what was available on the market, we found significant problems with existing options:

  • Many competitor tablets contained dyes that stained fixtures
  • Some were essentially salt cakes that did little for odor
  • Others controlled seawater odor but not calcium buildup
  • Many were uneconomical, lasting only a day or two

Our tablet was carefully selected and specially formulated:

  • Water-flow activated, slow-release chlorine formula
  • No dyes — won't stain your fixtures
  • Removes and prevents calcium buildup
  • Controls both seawater odor and calcium-related odor
  • One tablet lasts approximately 2.5 to 3 weeks
  • Double packaged for safety and convenience
  • Compact 15g tablets — a 1.5-quart pail holds 20 packets (about a year's supply)

Each shipped unit includes 2 specially formulated tablets to get you started immediately.

The Calcium Problem Nobody Talks About

Calcium scale is the hidden enemy in every marine plumbing system. Understanding it is the first step to solving it.

When urine mixes with saltwater, it creates calcium carbonate scale that coats the inside of plumbing lines, fixtures, and the holding tank. This scale doesn't just trap odors — it creates a compounding maintenance problem that gets more expensive every year.

Many boaters try flushing with bleach, and while this may help with odor somewhat, sodium hypochlorite bleach is too alkaline to dissolve calcium scale. It simply doesn't work for the real problem.

The Commoderizer tablet is slightly acidic — similar to how vinegar removes calcium deposits from a showerhead. With every flush, the tablet works to dissolve existing scale and prevent new buildup throughout your entire plumbing system.

See the Difference: One Year Comparison

With Commoderizer

After one year of use: only minor staining, no calcium buildup.

Bleach Method

After one year with bleach: visible calcium scale throughout the plumbing.

The Commoderizer isn't just an expense — it's a savings. By preventing calcium buildup, you avoid the costly descaling services and plumbing replacements that most boat owners face every year.

Charter Companies: Happy Guests Are Repeat Customers

"That boat smell" is the number one complaint from charter guests. It's the first thing they notice — and the last thing they remember. The Commoderizer eliminates that problem before guests ever step aboard.

Beyond guest satisfaction, the system removes and prevents calcium scale, significantly reducing your yearly maintenance costs. Periodic cleaning costs drop, plumbing lasts longer, and the unit cost is recovered quickly.

The Commoderizer has been trusted by major charter companies including The Moorings and TMM Yacht Charters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Commoderizer system.

One unit for each Jabsco PumpGard In-line Strainer that services the toilets on your boat. Some boats have one strainer servicing more than one toilet. For example, a Leopard 46 with 4 toilets serviced by 2 strainers would need 2 Commoderizer units.

No. Use only one tablet at a time and do not replace it until it has completely dissolved. Using multiple tablets could result in over-treatment of the system.

Yes. As part of the odor control process, calcium scale in the plumbing lines dissolves over time. The tablets are slightly acidic, which appears to solubilize the calcium — similar to how vinegar removes calcium deposits from a showerhead.

In heavy charter use, testing showed about a week to ten days, but there have been reports of three weeks or more in typical recreational use. A single tablet typically lasts 2.5 to 3 weeks. We recommend coordinating tablet changes with filter cleaning for convenience.

Not at all. The Commoderizer simply screws onto your existing Jabsco PumpGard In-line Strainer. There's no drilling, no additional plumbing, and no special tools required. If you can change a filter, you can install a Commoderizer.

Yes. The treated water flows through the entire system — from the toilet bowl through the plumbing lines and into the holding tank. This means odor control and calcium prevention throughout the complete system, not just at the toilet.

The only maintenance required is replacing the tablet when it dissolves — typically every 2.5 to 3 weeks. We recommend doing this when you clean your inline strainer filter, so it becomes part of your existing routine.

The Commoderizer is specifically designed for seawater toilet systems. Boats with freshwater flush systems don't typically experience the same calcium buildup and organism-based odor problems that seawater systems do.
